Miguel Cabrera smacked a walk off two-run homer to cap off an incredible 10-to-8 comeback win for the Tigers yesterday afternoon as they stunned the Indians in the bottom of the 10th inning at Comerica Park. Detroit trailed 8-to-5 going into the bottom half of the frame, and the two out rally with no one on base began with two walks off Cleveland closer Chris Perez. Austin Jackson then delivered an RBI double, followed by a two run single by Omar Infante. Cleveland built the three-run lead in the top of the 10th helped along by back-to-back solo home runs. Tiger’s reliever Darin Downs picked up his first win as they completed the three-game sweep of the Tribe.
The victory keeps the Detroit a game-and-a-half behind the Central Division leading White Sox beat the Angels 4-to-2. The Tigers stay home tonight to open a 4-game series against the Yankees.
Detroit has landed a right-handed hitter for their roster, acquiring utility infielder/outfielder Jeff Baker from the Cubs for two minor league players to be named later.
The Chicago Cubs were swept in their 3-game series at Los Angeles with Dodgers winning on Sunday 7-to-6.
