COLDWATER (WTVB) - Coldwater athletic programs are made possible in part every year because of the great financial support of the community and they turned out Monday for the Coldwater Cardinal Booster Club annual golf outing at the Golf Club of Coldwater.  It was the 12^th annual golf fund raiser and the Booster Club, the coaches and the athletes are sending out a big thanks to the 108 participants and the numerous sponsors of this year's event.  The Booster Club said Monday’s outing raised nearly $13,200 with all proceeds going towards Coldwater School Athletic programs. The winning golf teams yesterday were, in the men’s division, first place: Jeff Budd, Brien Kelly, Dave Aker, and Paul Plant; 2nd place: Jake Lenhardt, Rusty Reed, Andy Reed, and Andrew Parris; and 3rd place: Dave Rumsey, Jim Cole, Fred Wood, and Glen White. The first place team in the women’s division included Michelle Sheppard, Pam Parker, Mary Guthrie, and Sue Crabtree. The mixed division top teams were: 1st place: Terry Wilber, Doug Kinter, Gail Doerr, and Jessica Cole while second place honors went to Rick Gates, John Rakocy, John Parshall, and Kaitlyn Parshall. And the closest to the pin winners yesterday were Steve Covell, Glen White, and Mary Guthrie.                                                                         

Also on the local sports scene, the Coldwater High School boy’s soccer program will host its second annual Alumni Scrimmage this coming Saturday, August 11^th, at 7 pm at the CHS soccer field. Any alumni who played at least one season on the Coldwater varsity team is invited to play against the 2012 varsity squad.
