Lion’s defensive end Cliff Avril admitted to being a bit rusty yesterday, but said everybody is when it’s day one of training camp. Avril ended his holdout Sunday after signing his 10.6 million dollar franchise tender. He didn’t participate in full contact practice Mondayas the league’s new collective bargaining agreement doesn’t allow it until a player has had two days of conditioning. Lion’s head coach Jim Schwartz wouldn’t completely rule out Avril from seeing some action in Detroit’s pre-season opener, but said he probably won’t play in Friday night’s game against the Cleveland Browns at Ford Field. Yesterday, the Browns named rookie Brandon Weeden their starting quarterback. Weeden, the 22nd overall pick in April's draft out of Oklahoma State, beat out Colt McCoy and Seneca Wallace for the starting nod. And Terrell Owens is headed back to the NFL, agreeing to a one-year contract on Monday with the Seattle Seahawks. The 38-year-old receiver, who did not play last season after recovering from surgery on a torn left ACL, worked out for the team yesterday and apparently did more than enough to earn a job with his agreement reportedly worth one million dollars
