KALAMAZOO (WTVB) - 46 dogs, most of them pit bulls have been removed from homes in Oshtemo and Kalamazoo Township and two Kalamazoo area man have been charged for allegedly possessing dogs for fighting and breeding. 51-year-old Kelvin Eric Thomas is charged with 6 felony counts all related to possessing, training, selling and buying dogs for fighting and a gun count. His property on KL Ave. was raided on Friday.
Leonard Turner was reportedly arrested after a second raid at a home on Darling Street in Kalamazoo Township on Monday. Chris Schindler with the Humane Society says there was evidence the dogs had been forced to fight. The dogs are being sheltered at a special kennel set up by the Humane Society just for this purpose at an unnamed location.
