COLDWATER (WTVB) - With about 25% of the voters turning out, the Branch Intermediate School District special education proposal for an increase in taxes to cover lower state aid and a decrease in property values has lost by almost 1,500 votes, 4,070 No to 2,538 Yes.  John Pollack was a winner by almost 1,100 votes over fellow Sheriff's Department sergeant Mike Gatke to replace the retiring Warren Canon as Sheriff, and Ralph Kimble II more than tripled the vote total of challenger Benjamin Jewell for county Prosecutor.  Chuck Lillis and Kirk Kashian advance to the November General Election as the top two votegetters in the Probate Judge race, while Rod Olney has captured the new county commission District One over Jerry Hubbard and Randall Hazelbaker defeated Linda Froczak in District 5.

In the US Senate race, Pete Hoekstra defeated three other challengers to advance to the November General Election to face longtime incumbent Democrat Debbie Stabenow.  7th District Congressman Tim Walberg easily beat fellow Republican Dan Davis.
