COLDWATER (WTVB)- In Branch County high school sports, preparations for the upcoming fall season programs expand today with the official opening of practice sessions in Michigan for boy’s soccer, volleyball, boy’s tennis, girl’s golf and cross country. Football practices started Monday across the state, although they are limited to conditioning without pads or contact until tomorrow. Athletes are reminded that they must have a completed physical exam prior to their first tryout sessions. The Michigan High School Athletic Association says the first day when competition is allowed is a week from today beginning with girl’s golf and boy’s tennis and then two days later for boy’s soccer, cross country, and volleyball. The football season kicks off for a few schools two weeks from tomorrow, but most teams, including those in Branch County, will see their first action of the season on Friday night August 24th.
