ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN (WTVB) - Car Crashes are the number one killer for children between one and 13, and University of Michigan researchers think they know why. Parents still aren’t following the rules or the instructions when it comes to child restraints. Kids are at increased danger because parents don’t take the time or buy the restraints to strap them in. University of Michigan pediatrician Michelle Macy says they found that black and Hispanic kids under 3 are ten times more likely to be unrestrained. The study found too many parents are using the wrong seats or no seats at all, or letting children ride in front.
