COLDWATER (WTVB) - Day Five of this year’s Branch County Fair is Senior Citizen’s Day. The special senior program is happening at one o’clock this afternoon. Tonight at 7:30 in the ampitheatre, it’s the off-road demo derby.

Almost half of Americans have very little in financial assets when they die, a new study says.  The study of senior citizens' financial status finds that 46-percent of Americans have less than ten-thousand dollars in assets when they die.  The study's authors write that many seniors rely almost entirely on social security during the last years of their lives.  The study, published by the National Bureau of Economic Research, also finds that healthier seniors have higher assets than seniors who are less healthy.
