COLDWATER (WTVB) - Authorities say a Coldwater man got into a scuffle with police early today at the end of an alleged drunk driving pursuit incident that started in southern Branch County and ended at Fremont Road and U.S. 12 in QuincyTownship. A citizen contacted 9-1-1 around 3:45 this morning with a report of a car weaving from lane to lane on Fremont near Copeland Road in California Township. The contact driver continued to follow the wayward motorist northbound onFremontfor more than five miles until a patrol car picked up the trail. The 53-year old Coldwater man driving the Pontiac Fiero failed to pull over but eventually two Coldwater City Police officers were able to get the vehicle stopped at U-S 12. The suspect still wasn’t in the mood to be arrested and tussled with the officers after exiting his car before being taken into custody. A Sheriff’s deputy at the scene later booked him into the County jail on charges of OUIL, Fleeing and Eluding, and Resisting and Obstructing.
