In Branch County high school sports, there’s an important not-to-miss session tonight for Coldwater high school student-athletes and their parents. It’s the CHS Athletic Department Fall Parent’s meeting. Pay-to-participate fees will be collected at 6:30 p.m. while meetings between parents and coaches are set to begin at 7:15. The first games of the 2012-13 school year in Michiganbegin tomorrow with action in girl’s golf and boy’s tennis. In Branch County, the Coldwater golf team tees it up on Wednesday at the Gull Lake Invitational while in tennis, Coldwater competes Friday at the Vicksburg Invitational. The Michigan High School Athletic Association has set this Friday as the first date for Fall sports competition to start in cross country, boy’s soccer and volleyball. Thursday, August 23^rd, is when the football season kicks off although most schools, including those in Branch County, will get started on Friday the 24^th.  

The Coldwater junior varsity soccer team will host Quincy for a scrimmage this afternoon at 5:30 pm, while the varsity team will play friendlies against Chelsea and Eaton Rapids at Spring Arbor University this afternoon.
