COLDWATER (WTVB) - The 2012-2013 Branch County high school sports season opened yesterday with a Coldwater girl’s golf match and the Lady Cardinals finished in 8th place out of 14 teams in the Gull Lake Invitational at the Bedford Valley Golf Course.  Battle Creek Lakeview won the event firing a 334 while Coldwater’s team score was  413. The Lady Cardinals were led by Abby Donbrock with a 99, Katie Fair shot a 101, Anna Wendorf had a 104, Cecelia Ward shot a 109 and Jacqulyn Neesley had a 117. Coldwater travels to the White Oaks golf course tomorrow for the Hillsdale Invitational. Also tomorrow, the boy’s tennis season is scheduled to get underway for Coldwater with the Cardinals at the Vicksburg Invitational. And while the varsity football season forBranchCountyteams kicks off a week from tomorrow, most teams are tuning up with scrimmage action including Coldwater today at Constantine and on Friday, it’s Quincy at Hudson.
