That’s because Detroit has Justin Verlander on the mound and he has never lost to Baltimore in ten career starts against the O’s. Verlander is 7-and-0 against the Orioles, who are the only American League team he has not lost to. Even though Baltimore last night was beaten at home by the Red Sox 6-to-3, they’re still ten games over .500 at 64-and-54 while Detroit is 63-and-55. Tonight’s contest at Comerica Park starts a 9-game home stand for the Tigers, who head into the weekend 2-and-a-half games behind the Central Division leading White Sox, who belted a season-high tying five homers last night in a 7-to-2 win at Toronto. The Cubs, who were idle yesterday, open a 4-game series tonight at Cincinnati.
