GRAND RAPIDS (WTVB) - Kent County Prosecutor William Forsythe says there was a possibility of bringing a charge against Roy Schmidt and Jase Bolger in the election rigging scandal. A State Police Investigator thought it was a possibility, but Forsysth concluded that it would have taken a long time to investigate and been difficult to prove. He told the Detroit Free Press this week that if Schmidt and Bolger knew that their fake democratic candidate, Matt Mojzak did not live in the district and urged him to run anyway, that constitutes conspiracy to commit perjury. The warrants had been issued for phone records, but Forsythe decided it was more important that he issue the information he did have before the primary so voters would know. Then he shut the case down. The Free Press article sparked new calls by legislative democrats to reopen the investigation.
