What a sad day in the news world, and it doesn't look like it's going to get any better with this latest blow. Man of Steel's Superman, Henry Cavill, has reportedly split with his fiancée Ellen Whitaker, according to Us Weekly.

""There was no fallout,"" a source tells Us. ""They just both agreed it wasn't working. They broke up three months ago.""

The couple had been engaged for well over a year; Whitaker, a 26-year-old Equestrian, announced their engagement in May of 2011. ""I couldn't believe it when he asked me to marry him,"" she told the Belfast Telegraph at the time. ""I thought we were there to celebrate his birthday. It was such a surprise and I am so happy.""

Looks like Clark Kent is back on the prowl. Will he ever find his real-life Lois Lane? Only time will tell.

Hollywood.com has yet to hear back from Cavill's rep.
