ATHENS, MI (WKZO) - Calhoun County health officials say they are still waiting on test results but believe a bug that closed Athens schools yesterday, and will cancel classes again today was the flu bug. School officials decided to call it a day when 90 students either called in ill or went home sick.
As we reported yesterday morning, the flu bug has been going around, and the early arrival of the flu has health officials worried that it’s going to be a bad season, even though the flu vaccine that is now available is 90% effective against the contagion.
They are urging everyone, particularly those who have health problems, and women of child bearing age to get flu shot.
