The trio also picked up nods in a number of technical categories, including animated effects and character design.

Meanwhile, Jude Law landed a mention for his voice work in Rise of the Guardians, as did Adam Sandler (Hotel Transylvania), Kelly MacDonald (Brave), Alan Tudyk (Wreck-It Ralph), and Atticus Shaffer and Catherine O'Hara (both for Frankenweenie).

The International Animated Film Society's Annie Awards winners will be revealed during a ceremony in Los Angeles on 2 February (13).
