Trey Burke had 20 points and seven assists as third-ranked Michigan remained undefeated with a 73-to-41 home victory over Western Michigan at Crisler Center. Nik Stauskas added 11 points and Mitch McGary dropped in 10 for the Wolverines who have won their first eight games of the season for the first time under Coach John Beilein.
Darius Paul was the lone member of the 6-and-2 Broncos to score in double figures with 10 points as they had their six-game winning streak snapped.
Paul also pulled down 10 rebounds. The Wolverines closed out the first half with a 15-to-6 run to carry a 35-to-21 advantage into the break and the Broncos never threatened in the second half. Burke said he’d like to see the wolverines’ defense be a bit hungrier earlier in their games
Michigan’s next game is Saturday afternoon at home against Arkansas while the Broncos play Saturday night at Illinois State. Tonight’s schedule includes 19th-ranked Michigan State at home against Arkansas Pine Bluff.
