Mike Ilitch and his Olympia Development Company revealed plans Tuesday for a new arena in downtown Detroit along with an arts district. The project would include a new arena for the Red Wings, replacing the aging Joe Louis Arena.

Ilitich believes the district and arena will result in nearly ten-thousand new jobs have an annual economic impact of over 200-million dollars. An Ilitch company representative testified yesterday before a state Senate committee in Lansing about the plan, saying the overall economic impact would be 1.8 billion dollars pt;fon�t ml
