Purdue on Wednesday became the latest school to fill its coaching vacancy when it named Kent State's Darrell Hazell to the position. Hazell spent the past two seasons at Kent State, leading the Golden Flashes to a record of 16-and-9 with this year's 11-and-2 team losing to Northern Illinois in the Mid-American Conference title game. Purdue needed a replacement for Danny Hope, who was fired in late November despite a three-game winning streak to conclude the season that made the Boilermakers bowl-eligible with a 6-6 record.
