The NHL rejected the players' most recent offer for a collective bargaining agreement on Thursday, causing talks between the two sides to be suspended indefinitely. They had negotiated for nearly 20 hours over the past two days and reportedly exchanged proposals Wednesday in an effort to end the lockout, which is approaching the three-month mark. The NHL Player’s Association then submitted its counteroffer on Thursday, but the owners quickly shot it down.
In minor league hockey this weekend in the ECHL, the Kalamazoo Wings play tonight at Cincinnati and then take on visiting Toledo tomorrow night at Wings Stadium. In college hockey, tonight and tomorrow night, Western Michigan is at home against Ferris State while Michigan State is at Notre Dame. Michigan has the weekend off.
