President To Speak In Redford

REDFORD, MI  (WKZO) --   President Obama will be in Redford Michigan today talking about the Fiscal Cliff and ways to avoid going off its edge.

WMU Finance and Commercial Law Professor Christopher Korth isn’t sure it can be done.   He thinks the two sides have dug themselves in too deeply and it may not be possible to reach a deal in time.    Korth says solving it will require shoving to the side everyone with a political agenda and who has sworn to never raise taxes.

He says Republicans will have to allow pentagon cuts and higher taxes on the rich and democrats will have to give on entitlements.

Their spokesmen are not releasing any details but House Speaker John Boehner and President Obama met privately yesterday to continue talks to avert going over the Fiscal Cliff at the end of the year.  Perhaps the President will give a few clues what was talked about when he addresses autoworkers at a Daimler Diesel Engine plant in Eastern Michigan this afternoon.

President Obama is also expected to publicly address the Right to Work issue for the first time.  The White House issued a statement stating his opposition to such laws after last week’s vote.
