HILLSDALE, MI – Police say that slippery road conditions contributed to a crash that killed a 45-year-old Hanover man Tuesday morning on M-99 in Hillsdale. A 17-year-old boy also went by helicopter to a hospital in Toledo after the two-vehicle crash.
Two passengers, riding with the 17-year-old driver, also were injured. The three were headed north about 7:58 a.m. when it appears the teen lost control of the vehicle on the slick, snow-coated road. It appeared the vehicle veered into the southbound lane in front of Frank Beck Chevrolet, 3750 Carleton Road. Hillsdale City Police say the driver of the southbound vehicle died in the head-on collision.
The teen driver went by air to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. The extent of the passengers’ injuries are not known, but they are not believed to be life-threatening.
Names of those involved are being withheld pending notification of their family members.
The crash remains under investigation.
