Michigan State basketball coach Jud Heathcote, who led the Spartans to a national championship in 1979, said Tuesday he won’t be able to attend Friday night’s Alumni game at Jenison Fieldhouse after hurting his hip in a fall on Sunday. The 85-year old Heathcote and his wife slipped on some ice after coming out of church in Spokane, Washington.

The weekend activities at Jension, which will also see Coldwater’s Steve Cherry play in the Friday contest as a member of the M-S-U 2000 national title team, includes the Spartans taking on Tuskegee at nine o’clock Saturday night.
