HS BOYS BASKETBALL
(at) Loy Norrix 77, Coldwater 35: Last night in Kalamazoo, Loy Norrix’s Bishop Robinson single-handedly outscored the entire Coldwater Cardinal boys basketball team, as the all-state first team member had 38 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, and 7 steals en route to the 77-35 victory for the Knights. The Loy Norrix press forced the Cardinals into 28 turnovers that led to 26 points for the Knights. Maurer, our McDonald’s Player of the Game, scored a team-high 11 for Coldwater; they drop to 2-2 overall, 1-2 in the SMAC East.
Mendon 53, (at) Bronson 49: Bronson lost a close contest to St. Joe Valley foe Mendon 53-49. Jake Gallup had a team-high 13 points and 7 rebounds to pace the Vikings, while Chase Carpenter added 10 as the Vikings drop to 1-3 overall, 0-2 in league play.
HS GIRLS BASKETBALL
Coldwater 51, (at) Loy Norrix 33: Coldwater used a 23-10 third quarter to propel themselves to a 51-33 win at Loy Norrix. Two Cardinals had double-doubles; Kenzie Galloway had 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Meghan Schorfhaar had 11 points and 10 boards. Jordan Shiery also had 12 rebounds to go with her 8 points as the Lady Cards improve to 2-2 overall, 2-1 in the SMAC East.
Mendon 56, (at) Bronson 34: Bronson suffered just their second loss of the season, falling 56-34 to visiting Mendon. The Hornets jumped out to a 24-7 first quarter lead and never looked back. Amberly Bercaw led the Vikings with 9 points; they fall to 4-2 overall, 1-1 in the St. Joe Valley.
Reading 40, (at) Quincy 18: Quincy lost to visiting Reading 40-18 to drop to 0-5 overall, 0-3 in the Big 8. Andrea Ferrin led the Orioles with 6 points.
(at) Concord 49, Union City 12: Union City lost at Concord 49-12. Katie Birch had 7 points for the Chargers, who fall to 1-4 overall, 1-2 in the Big 8.
On today’s schedule, in wrestling, Coldwater hosts the Cardinal Classic Tournament, with Bronson and Union City among the participating teams. Quincy will wrestle at the Michigan Center Invitational.
