The Lions yesterday reached their low point in a disappointing season with their sixth straight loss as they were crushed at Arizona 38-to-10. The defeat for Detroit came against a Cardinal’s team that had dropped nine straight games.
The Lion’ self-destructed in the second quarter when they fumbled away a punt and Matthew Stafford tossed a pair of interceptions including one that was returned for a touchdown. Stafford added another interception that was run back for a score in the fourth quarter, part of a ragged day in which he didn’t complete a pass until the fourth series, starting the game 0-for-6 while Detroit went 3-and-out on their first 3 offensive possessions.
Calvin Johnson was again one of the few bright spots for the Lions with 10 catches for 121 yards and he’s now 302 yards shy of Jerry Rice's NFL single-season receiving record of 1,848 yards with two games to play. after the game, Detroit Coach Jim Schwartz said the lions couldn’t do much of anything right against the cardinals. Detroit will take a 4-and-10 record into its next to last game coming up Saturday night at home against the Atlanta Falcons.
