COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - In Branch County high school sports last night, in boy’s basketball, Quincy was a winner at Centreville 63-to-39. Eleven players scored for the visiting Orioles, led by Ashton Diotte with 20 points. Michael Tesch had a team-high 7 rebounds while Chase Cook added six assists. The non-conference victory improved Quincy’s record to 3-and-3.
And in girl’s hoops, make it a sweep for Quincy at Centreville with the Lady Orioles picking up their first win in six games this season, beating the Bulldogs 52-to-47. The outcome was decided in the fourth quarter when Quincy doubled up Centreville 16-to-8. Katie Santi led the way with 14 points, including four three pointers.
Also last night in girl’s basketball, Union City was a 58-to-29 winner at Tekonsha. Brooke Johnson had a career-high 20 points for the victorious Lady Chargers along with 13 rebounds and seven steals. Katie Burch added 11 points for Union City, which improved to 2-and-4. And in junior varsity girl’s basketball, Bronson fell at home to Athens 47-to-37 with 12 points for Makayla Sikorski.
Turning to wrestling, Coldwater posted a pair of wins last night in a quad meet at Gull Lake. The Cardinals defeated the host Blue Devils 57-to-21 and beat Kalamazoo Loy Norrix 58-to-21. Going 2-and-0 on the night for Coldwater were Jesse Miller, Mohammed Aljabaly, Randy Brown, Nooh Aljabaly, Ethan Miller, Kegan Brown and Austin Siegel.
Quincy lost at home to Springport 42-to-39. The host Orioles had wins from Jacob Massey, Tyler Smith, Luke Wiser, and Nate Smith along with 3 void victories. Quincy is now1-and-2 in the Big Eight and 6-and-8 overall. And Union City earned two victories last night as the Chargers hosted a tri meet and defeated Athens/Climax Scotts 42-to-36 and Olivet 36-to-30. Going 2-and-0 for the Chargers with fall wins were Logan Dowell and Tyler Howard.
On tonight’s high school schedule, in boy’s and girl’s basketball, it’s Bronson at Athens while in freshman girl’s hoops, it’s Coldwater at Three Rivers. And in gymnastics, it’s Coldwater at Adrian.

In middle school sports last night, in boy’s basketball, Bronson closed out its season with a pair of losses at Niles-Brandywine. In the eighth grade game, Brandywine beat the Vikings 48-to-42. Justin Robinson had 13 points and 15 rebounds while Carlos Reyes added 10 points and 10 rebounds. Bronson lost the seventh grade contest 32-to-30 with seven points for Ethan Cossairt.
