DETROIT (WKZO) -- While it is all too common for people to take their garbage and dump it in certain neighborhoods in Detroit, people in one east-side neighborhood never expected to see a five-foot alligator dropped off.

Shontez Gibson lives in the area, and thought someone was dumping a body. When he saw the gator, he rescued the reptile and called the Michigan Humane Society.

The gator has since been moved to the Humane Society's location in Rochester Hills which has the ability to handle exotic pets.
