UNDATED (WKZO) -- Procrastinators caught a break this year. About 17-million Americans were out doing last-minute Christmas shopping on Christmas Eve.
Many of them were savvy shoppers who had been waiting all Christmas season for the last minute deep discounts. Retail analysts say those shoppers saw the sort of bargain prices early shoppers found on Black Friday. Procrastinators got to take advantage of the same prices.
The retail-sales tracking company ShopperTrak says this hasn't been as strong a season for retailers as initially hoped it would be. A Macy's executive tells the "Detroit News" he'd be surprised if anything still in the stores was not marked down.
