COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - Branch County authorities say a drunk driving crash with no seat belts used resulted in serious head injuries late yesterday morning for a pickup truck driver in Quincy Township.

Sheriff’s Deputies said they found 53-year old Richard Cummings of Quincy trapped in his vehicle on U.S. 12 just west of Fremont Road. Quincy firemen helped free Cummings from the pickup and he was flown from the scene by helicopter to Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo for treatment. Deputies said Cummings was westbound on U.S. 12 when his vehicle ran off the road and landed front end first in a deep culvert.
