LANSING (WKZO) -- Numerous police agencies will be working starting Friday night in the hopes of cracking down on drunk or impaired drivers in anticipation of New Year's Eve celebrations.

Michigan State Police confirmed they will have extra troopers out specifically looking for drunk drivers.  This particular effort is part of the Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning's New Year's drunk driving crackdown.

Federal funds help pay for 100 law enforcement agencies in 22 counties to take part.
