COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - There was a small fire in the Coldwater Meijer Store last night but fire officials say it wasn’t a small amount of smoke that resulted from the blaze. The Coldwater Fire Department said quite a bit of smoke spread around the store after a defective light in a fish tank sparked the blaze on the west side of the store around 11:30 last night.
Several cardboard boxes caught on fire and it could have been worse, but for a customer who saw the flames and found a fire extinguisher and put it to use before firefighters arrived.
No injuries were reported and there were only a few customers who had to be evacuated from the building. The Meijer Store, a 24-hour operation, is open for business today.
