LANSING, MI (WTVB)- Is it time to raise gasoline taxes and vehicle registration fees in Michigan to fix the state’s crumbling roads. Governor Snyder suggested as much in his State of the State address last month.
Republican State Representative Ken Kurtz of Coldwater says now that the concept is out in the open, there will be input from all levels, local, state, and federal, before any action is taken. Kurtz says as expected, the general reaction from the public that he’s heard from regarding tax and fees hikes is overwhelmingly negative, with 100% saying no way.
Kurtz says the bottom line is this is the year for some good, solid, long term planning on improving Michigan’s infra-structure, especially for our roads.
