CALHOUN COUNTY -- Two teens from Tekonsha Township, have been formally charged with arson and conspiracy for setting fire to abandoned homes have been formally charged with 20-year-felonies. Eighteen-year-old firefighter Dillon Eaton, a rookie firefighter on the Tekonsha Township Fire Department was charged with allegedly starting two fires, including a blaze in an empty home right across the street from his own. Nineteen-year-old Sergio Ulleg has been implicated in one of the fires. Investigators claim that both men have confessed.
The home at 397 E. Canal burned on January 26th. Two days later, the home at 480 E. Jackson St. burned. Flammable liquids were used to start both fires. Family members say Eaton became a fire fighter because both of his parents died in a fire when he was 9. They are surprised by the events of the last few weeks. Eaton is being held on 15-thousand dollars bond. Bail for Ulleg was set at one thousand.
