EAST LANSING, MI (WTVB) - Tests are being conducted but it appears a Michigan State University student from Wyoming has died from Meningococcal disease. Health officials are giving inoculations and looking for and closely watching those who came in contact with 19-year-old sophomore Carly Glynn, a broadcast major, for any sign of the swiftly moving bacterial infection. Glynn died within a few hours of arriving at the hospital. It comes on like the worst case of flu, giving patients a stiff neck and the worst headache patients have ever experienced. It’s rare, but can be a problem where people live in close quarters, like residence halls at colleges, like Carly did at MSU.
