Tenth-ranked Michigan State notched a controversial 63-to-60 overtime win at 18th-ranked Wisconsin. The host Badgers banked home what appeared to be a game-tying three-pointer as time expired in O-T.
According to the clock above the basket, Ryan Evans failed to get the shot off before the red light came on. However, the scoreboard clock was different and showed that Evans beat the buzzer by two-tenths of a second. The referees decided to call off the basket, giving Michigan State the victory.
Draymond Green had 18 points and 14 rebounds for the Spartans, who have reeled off 14 straight wins to improve to 14-and-2 and 3-and-0 in the Big Ten. The Badgers drop 12-and-4 and 1-and-2 in the conference.
Also last night, Western Michigan was a winner at home over Wisconsin-Milwaukee 72-to-61. Matt Stainbrook had 21 points and Demetrius Ward added 17 as the Broncos improved to 6-and-8.
