LANSING, MI (WTVB) - State Senator Bruce Caswell is the target of a renewed recall effort after a group in his district, which includes Branch County, began collecting signatures Jan. 2. Language against the Republican from Hillsdale was re-approved at a clarity hearing held Oct 4. to successfully recall Caswell, the group would have to collect 18,465 signatures by March 31st to place the question on the August 7th ballot. It could be a part of what sources have indicated may be a renewed surge against Senators.
Caswell told the MIRS News Agency he didn't know anything about the renewed effort to recall him. Victoria Powell, who is leading the charge, could not be reached for comment.
Meanwhile, 7th District Republican Congressman Tim Walberg said Wednesday he plans to seek re-election. Walberg has no known Democratic challengers ten months before the General Election and less than 7 months until the August Primary.
