ANN ARBOR, MI (WKZO) -- Tickets were handed out on campus yesterday for President Obama's speech this morning on the University of Michigan campus.  About three-thousand people will be allowed inside the Glick Fieldhouse to hear the president talk about making college more affordable.  The tickets were free, if you were willing to wait for hours on line to get them.

It’s created a healthy secondary market with students offering to pay considerable sums to get their hands on a ticket for the 9:30 speech.  Some offers appeared on Craig’s list but were quickly deleted because resale of the tickets for cash is technically illegal.

The President’s appearance in Michigan coincides with new poll numbers that offer up a mixed message to the Chief executive. A new EPIC MRA poll shows that while Michigan may not be thrilled with the job that President Barack Obama is doing, they are even less excited about the two front runners vying to replace him.

Fifty-six percent were not happy with the President’s performance, but most still prefer him to the alternatives.  In head to head comparisons, he beats Mitt Romney by 8% and Newt Gingrich by 13%.  The poll also shows that Gingrich is just 5% behind Romney in a head to head preview of next month’s primary.  That’s surprising, given Romney’s roots in Michigan.
