UNDATED (WKZO) -- We now know the names of both of the victims of twin drownings in West Michigan this weekend. 18-year-old Justin Pitts drowned on Friday, swimming with a young friend in the Duck Lake Channel in Muskegon County. He had just graduated from Reeths Puffer High School.
17-year-old Douglas Payne dove into the Pond at Battjes Park in Wyoming, an old gravel pit on Saturday morning and may have been caught off guard by how quickly the bottom dropped off. His friends say they just waded in where it was shallow, but he went in all the way and went under. By the time they realized what had happened it was too late. Rescue crews pulled him out an hour after the drowning.
