BATAVIA TOWNSHIP (WKZO) -- State Police say a man they thought was a barricaded suspect had probably already killed himself by the time they surrounded the rural home on Bullock Road in Branch County’s Batavia Township. By the time they responded, he had already shot and wounded a 25-year-old woman and her three year old son.
They were loaded on board a Careflight helicopter and rushed to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo for treatment of leg wounds. Their names and conditions have not been released.
State Police called in their Emergency Support Team and surrounded the home where they thought the woman lives. After the suspect failed to respond, they stormed the place and found him dead inside from an apparent self-inflicted wound. State Police are keeping most of the details to themselves.
