Batavia Township (WTVB) Michigan State Police have now released the names of the people involved in a triple shooting Monday in Branch County’s Batavia Township. Authorities say the suspect, who apparently took his own life with a handgun, was 39-year old Mark Valentine of Jonesville. It happened inside the home where Valentine’s victims lived on Bullock Road west of Coldwater. 23-year old Ashley Bischoff and her three year old son were each shot and both reportedly struck in the leg as they fled the residence. That was shortly before 5 p.m. Monday. Around 4-and-a-half hours later, a State Police Emergency Support team entered the home where they found Valentine deceased. Bischoff and her son were airflighted to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo for treatment of the non-life threatening wounds and released the next day. Investigators haven’t officially disclosed a motive for the shootings, although various media reports indicate Valentine was the former boyfriend of Bischoff, who apparently ended their relationship last fall with Valentine unable then to cope with the break-up, eventually leading to this week’s events.
