NBA Deals: Nash To Sign With LA Lakers

by

Steve Nash is going to team up with Kobe Bryant to try and bring the Los Angeles Lakers another title. According to several reports the 38-year old point guard will re-sign with the Phoenix Suns and will then be dealt to the Lakers. The Suns will get first-round picks in 2013 and 2015, and second-round selections in 2013 and 2014 for Nash, an eight-time All-Star and two-time league MVP. Nash will reportedly get a three-year contract in excess of $25 million.

The Pistons begin practice for the upcoming summer league today.  Detroit's roster includes recent NBA draftees Andre Drummond, Khris Middleton and Kim English along with Brandon Knight, Austin Daye and Kyle Singler.  The Pistons open against the Utah Jazz next Monday, and will play the Orlando Magic, Oklahoma City Thunder, and the Boston Celtics before ending summer league play with the Philadelphia 76ers July 13th. Meanwhile, the U.S. men's basketball team is gearing up for this month's Olympic Games in London. Team USA reports to training camp today in Las Vegas.  The players will practice tomorrow and Saturday, with the final 12-man roster to be revealed Saturday night during the USA Basketball Selection Show on NBA TV. The team is once again led by Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony. Team USA will continue with practices Sunday through Wednesday before playing an exhibition game next Thursday against the Dominican Republic.  Duke's Mike Krzyzewski returns in what will be his final Olympics as head coach. The U.S. won the gold medal at the Summer Games in Beijing in 2008.
