ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS (WTVB)  In summer league baseball, the Coldwater Redbirds tonight are scheduled to open play in the Sandy Koufax North Central Regional, which begins this evening in Rockford,Illinois with a trio of first round games. Coldwater is one of the three Michigan teams in the tournament that advanced to the Illinois event after earning bids to the regional by virtue of their top three finish in last week’s state tournament hosted by Coldwater. The Redbirds, who took third place in the Michigan tournament, have a six o’clock game tonight against the host Rockford Young Guns. Six more games are scheduled for tomorrow in the double elimination regional, which wraps up either on Friday or Saturday.
