COLDWATER (WTVB) The effort by the Branch County Board of Commissioners to identify the best method to shore up the pension retirement program for county workers receives added focus today. The County Commission has scheduled a special session for three o’clock this afternoon when the Board could choose an outside legal firm to offer advise on how the county can implement a temporary self-funded pension program to cover newly retired workers. The other retirees pension checks would still be funded and managed through the county’s long time program provider John Hancock, which will likely have its services terminated once the Board and other county officials decide on a suitable replacement.
