ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS (WTVB)  In summer league baseball, the season has ended for the Coldwater Redbirds with their second round loss yesterday in the Sandy Koufax North Central Regional in Rockford, Illinois. The Redbirds fell 14-to-3 to the Rockford-based Great Lakes Tigers. Brandon Lewis started and took the defeat for Coldwater, which was held to 3 singles. The Redbirds had qualified for the 14-and-under double elimination event with their third place finish in last week’s state tournament hosted by Coldwater, where this weekend, it’s theMickeyMantleStatetournament. It got underway yesterday and runs through tomorrow. Coldwater doesn’t have a team in the event since it enjoys an automatic bid to next week’s North Central Regional, which starts Thursday, marking the 43^rd year for the Mickey Mantle Regional in Coldwater.
