MICHIGAN (WTVB) - An official with the U.S. Department of Agriculture was scheduled long ago to visit a west Michigan Orchard to get a look at the damage caused by the weather this spring, and got an additional look at the damage being caused to the state’s other crops by the dry weather this summer.
Micheal Scuse says they are working on a way to speed up the time it takes to declare agricultural disaster areas from 3 months to less than a month. He says U.S. House approval of the Farm Bill would also help.
