COLDWATER (WTVB) - There will be some change coming to the Coldwater Board of Education over the coming months. It won't be in the leadership of the Board, however, as Robin Iveson was re-elected President at last night's annual organizational meeting. Jim Hiscock will remain Vice President, Jean Milnes stays as Secretary, and Clair Dean will remain Treasurer. There will now be two organizational meetings every year, a change required with a new state law that mandates a November date for public school elections. The Board will use its December organizational meeting to bring in newly elected trustees and to elect new officers, while the July organizational meeting will deal with financial matters that come up at the beginning of a new fiscal year. During the regular board session last night, bids were awarded for projects to redesign and construct a new parking loop on the east side of Legg Middle School, repave and repair the other parking lots at LMS and Coldwater High School, install new air handlers at LMS, and to relocate one of LMS's backup boilers to Lakeland Elementary, where it will become that building's primary boiler. And finally, starting with the new school year, regular Board of Education meetings in Coldwater will begin at 6pm, an hour earlier than in past years.
