Doug Fister struck out 10 over eight innings of one-run, two-hit ball to guide the Tigers to a 7-to-2 win over the Angels at Comerica Park. The victory came a night after they destroyed Detroit 13-to-0. Brennan Boesch and Prince Fielder each had two rbi’s for the Tigers while Miguel Cabrera added an RBI and scored twice in the win. Angels starter C.J. Wilson had control issues and gave up seven runs over six frames to take the loss.
The win got the Tigers back to within 2-and-a-half games of the Central Division leading White Sox, who lost 10-to-1 at Boston. The White Sox will be in Detroit this weekend for 3 games with the Tigers. Max Scherzer starts for Detroit this afternoon as they finish up the 4-game series with the Angels. The Cubs last night beat the Marlins 5-to-1 in a rain-shortened game at Wrigley Field that was called after heavy showers starting falling in the top of the eighth inning.
