CALHOUN COUNTY, MI (WNWN) - One teen is dead and one critically injured after they were ejected from a vehicle that went out of control at high speed on Capital Ave. S.W. in Leroy Township Thursday afternoon. State Police say 18-year-old Samuel Kush was trying to pass a slower car when he veered over the centerline to pass, spotted a car ahead in the passing lane, swerved back and lost control, sliding sideways off the road and into a tree. 16-year-old backseat passenger Donnell Jackson was ejected and killed. 16 year old Zachary Porttius is listed in critical but stable condition at Bronson Hospital’s trauma unit in Kalamazoo. A third passenger, Taylor Moser and the driver were not injured, but Kush was taken to the hospital for a blood draw to determine if drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash
