COLDWATER (WTVB) - In summer league baseball, a Michigan team yesterday was crowned champion in Coldwater of the Mickey Mantle North Central Regional and will be headed next week to McKinney, Texas for the AABC 16-and-under World Series. The MichiganBulls, a Detroit area all-star team, defeated the Moline, Illinois Blackhawks in Sunday’s title game at Lowe Field. The Coldwater Redbirds, the host team for the North Central Regional, which has been held in Coldwater for 43 years, was eliminated in the second round on Friday. Teams from the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada compete for the right to play in the Mickey Mantle World Series with ten teams qualifying for the event in which play will begin on August First.
