COLDWATER (WTVB) - Nothing at all promising for the area in the latest update from the US Drought Monitor that was issued on Monday. It says while many locations including Branch County that saw upwards of one to two inches of rain last Wednesday through Thursday, short term rainfall has little impact on the long term drought conditions currently in place. Most of Branch County remains in the extreme drought category. There may be some near term improvement, but the outlook for the last week of July indicates continued below normal rainfall and above normal temperatures.
